nonprofit agency that recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for children in foster care
Bergen County Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc. (BCCASA) is an independent, non-profit organization committed to advocating for the best interest of children who have been removed from their biological homes due to abuse and/or neglect. These children are under the jurisdiction of the NJ Family Court in Bergen County. BCCASAs mission is to provide for a corps of trained volunteers who work to ensure that needed services and assistance are made available to children who have been victims of abuse and/or neglect and are currently not living at home. BCCASAs goal is to move these children towards safe and permanent homes as quickly as possible. Many of the children CASA works with come from low to moderate income families and all of them are considered impoverished because they are currently living in foster care.
